Jesus is our “Governor” (Matthew 2:6), “Savior” (Luke 2:11), “Savior of the body” (Ephesians 5:23), “Savior of the world” (John 4:42), and the seed of Abraham (Galatians 3:16). As our “Shepherd” (Matthew 26:31), He is the “Son of David” (Matthew 1:1), “Son of God” (Matthew 4:3), “Son of man” (Matthew 8:20), and “Son of Mary” (Mark 6:3). His relationship to the Father is also described as, “Son of the Blessed” (Mark 14:61), “Son of the Father” (2 John 3), “Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:16), “Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:32), and “Son of the most high God” (Mark 5:7).
Jesus is called a “stumbling stone and rock of offence” (Romans 9:33) and “The stone which the builders rejected” (Matthew 21:42). He is the “vine” (John 15:5),
“the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), the “Word” (John 1:1), and the “Word of God” (Revelation 19:13).
The most beautiful lengthy description of Jesus is found in Revelation 1:13—18:
“And in the midst of the seven lampstands one like the Son of man clothed with a garment down to the feet, and girted about the chest with a golden band. His head and His hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two—edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its-strength. I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of death.” (NKJV).
Jesus is to be preached (Acts 8:39), “believed in” (John 3:16), loved, and obeyed (Matthew 7:24-27; John 14:15). It was the preaching of Jesus that caused
the response in Acts 2:37, “Men and brethren, What shall we do?”
Reader, “What think ye of Christ” (Matthew 22:42)?
